Summary
- What we collect: account info, the ingredients and recipes you create, photos you choose to share with the recipe AI, and basic crash + usage diagnostics.
- Why: to make the app work, sync across your devices, and improve reliability.
- Who we share with: a small set of named providers (Apple, Convex, Clerk, RevenueCat, OpenAI, PostHog, Sentry, Resend) under contract — never advertisers.
- Where it lives: on your device, on Apple's servers (in-app purchases), and on infrastructure operated by the providers above.
- Your control: delete your account from inside the app at any time; your content is removed within 30 days.
1. Information we collect
Account information
When you sign in, our authentication provider Clerk stores your email address, sign-in factors (Sign in with Apple, magic link), and a session token. We don't store your password — sign-in is delegated to Apple or to a one-time email link.
Your cooking content
Ingredients, recipes you generate or save, cooking sessions in progress, and chats with the Chef are synced via Convex so they appear on every device you sign in on. We can read this content only to operate and debug the service; it is not used for advertising or shared with third parties for marketing.
Photos you take
When you point the camera at ingredients or attach a photo to a recipe, the image is sent to our recipe-extraction service (operated by OpenAI) so it can return a structured ingredient list. We do not retain those images on our servers beyond the time needed to return a result, and we do not allow OpenAI to use them to train its general-purpose models. Photos you intentionally save to a recipe are stored under your account on Convex.
Subscription & payment
Subscriptions are processed by Apple. Apple shares with us — via RevenueCat — only the entitlement state ("subscriber, plan A, expiry date Y"). We never see your card, address, or Apple ID password.
Diagnostics
We use Sentry to capture crashes and PostHog for product analytics (which screens are visited, which features are used). Both are configured to scrub personally identifying data. You can opt out of analytics from Settings → Privacy in the app.
